Let's talk options (because you gotta have options):
Cold Process soap making - $200/person + tax -OR- $175/person for 2-4 participants (capped at 4 people)
This is the kind of soap making that was featured on FOX7 Good Day Austin with Tierra Neubaum (all segments are listed here).
What is cold process soap making? It's a traditional method of soap making. You are making soap from scratch, using fats/oils/butters and sodium hydroxide (aka lye), and it undergoes a chemical reaction called saponification. This method of soap making allows for better customization because you determine the soap ingredients. After 24-48 hours, you cut your soap, and we recommend curing your soap for 4-6 weeks.
We are able to host a cold process soap making workshop for 1-4 people, ages 13 and up (with parent/guardian present). The workshop will be about 1.5-2 hours of hands-on instruction, and all materials will be provided. Each participant will leave with a soap recipe and handout, as well as a soap loaf mold with your custom soap (about 1 lb) in it.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeves. We will provide goggles, gloves, and an apron to borrow. FYI, this does involve the handling of sodium hydroxide (aka lye), so safety is very important for this type of soap making.
Melt & Pour soap making - $40/person + tax (3 person minimum)
If you're looking for a team-building event for groups of 4 or more, then consider a melt and pour (M&P) workshop. This option is great for all ages because we do NOT handle sodium hydroxide, and we've taught children as young as 2 years old (with parent/guardian present). We give some background and chemistry about soap making, all materials are provided, and each person would leave with at least two M&P soaps! Time permitting, we can also do a demonstration of cold process soap making. This workshop is about 1-1.5 hours with time to ask questions, hang out, shop, etc. Participants unumold their soaps after about 30-45 min.
If you have questions, please contact us. Thank you.
